Ingredients
  • 1 recipe Picadillo or Pico de Gallo (pg. 44)
  • 4 cups uncooked pasta
  • 1 Lb. lean ground meat, ground round
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 10 leaves basil, julienne
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • *Picadillo
  • ¼ cup minced scallion
  • ¼ cup minced cilantro
  • ¼ cup small diced, peeled and seeded tomato
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
Method
  • Place meat, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, mustard, half of the basil, salt and pepper in a bowl and mix well. You can do this in your processor too.
  • Transfer beef to a sauce pan and cook over medium heat, mixing to prevent lumps, for 7 to 8 minutes or until fully cooked and somewhat browned.
  • Cook the pasta!
  • Add tomato sauce to the pan and cook for 3 minutes more.
  • Leave the remaining basil leaves to add right before serving, mix and serve.
  • Enjoy!
